The forecast on this day was for heavy rain. It was a travel day for us as we were making our way back south. We spent the night in Canmore and thought we’d do a small hike on the way back down to Waterton NP. Since it was supposed to be raining pretty hard we slept in a little more than normal but, of course, when we got up and looked outside we saw the sun peaking behind the clouds. By the time we drove down to Kananaskis it was a beautiful sunny day. Continue reading “Rawson Lake Trail – Kananaskis Country, AB”

It completely lived up to its billing. Continue reading “Moraine Lake to Wenkchemna Pass – Banff NP”

This trail begins at the Lake Louise Chateau. The Chateau is a high end hotel that sits right along the east shore of Lake Louise. As is the case for most lakes that are fed by glaciers, the glacial silt that remains suspended in the water refracts light in such a way to produce an almost unnatural color of greenish blue.
